Michael Lee King, convicted in the 2008 abduction, rape and murder of Denise Amber Lee, was executed by lethal injection Tuesday evening at Florida State Prison near Starke and was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. The U.S. Supreme Court denied his final appeal on Monday, and Denise Amber Lee’s 911 call while bound in King’s car helped spur passage of the Denise Amber Lee Act to improve 911 operator training.
