Twin Cities shelters add beds for subzero weekend

Ramsey and Hennepin counties are expanding cold-weather shelter capacity ahead of below-zero temperatures this weekend. Ramsey County will use Holy Christian Church as an 80-bed warming center with Sheriff’s Office transports Friday night, and the American Indian Community Development Corporation in Hennepin County is opening 72 additional spots as demand surges. Providers warn centers may hit capacity and are coordinating overflow with counties.
