Minnesota on pace for record eight 2025 specials
Following victories by Rep. Kaohly Vang Her for St. Paul mayor and Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger for the Minnesota Senate, their House seats in St. Paul’s 64A and Woodbury’s 47A will trigger two more special elections, putting Minnesota at eight legislative specials in 2025 — surpassing the prior record of six in 1994. With the House tied 67–67, the races could theoretically shift control, though DFL Leader Zack Stephenson said both districts are strong DFL territory.
